Perpetual Awards

MHSA awards the following perpetual trophies annually:

Linda Sinkule Saddle Seat Equitation Trophy -  Presented by Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Sinkule in honor of their daughter who had been one of the State’s outstanding equitation riders. To be awarded to the exhibitor accumulating the most points during the year in Saddle Seat Equitation competition at MHSA Approved shows. Specific to classes and Championships, not medal classes. 
 
Norman J. Ellis Stock Seat Equitation Trophy​ - Presented by the Directors of MHSA to honor Director-at-Large Norman J. Ellis, for his many contributions to this Association.  To be awarded to the exhibitor accumulating the most points during the year in Western/Stock Seat Equitation at MHSA Approved Shows. Specific to classes and Championships, not medal classes.
 
Carl Thomas Earehart Memorial Hunt Seat Equitation Trophy - Presented by the Directors of Michigan Horse Show Association to honor Carl Thomas Earehart, an outstanding horseman and competitor. Awarded to the exhibitor accumulating the most points during the year in Hunt Seat Equitation competition at MHSA Approved shows. Specific to classes and Championships, not medal classes.
 
Blyth Davis Memorial Trophy​ - Presented to honor the memory of Blyth Davis by MHSA Junior Members. To be awarded each year to a junior member of the Michigan Horse how association who best exemplifies those attributes for which Blyth Davis as most respected: good sportsmanship, horsemanship, showmanship, friendliness, quality of character. Voting due November 10, of each year. Prior winners of the award are eliminated from further competition for the award.
 
Grants’ Perpetual Trophy for Overall Championship Hunt Seat Equitation - Presented in honor of Mr. and Mrs. Charles D. Grant by their Michigan students.  To be presented each year to the junior rider accumulating the most points in MHSA approved shows in Hunt Seat Equitation over Fences classes. Points will be counted with a point value consistent with the Equitation rating of the show at which the points are earned.
 
Wheel of Fortune Perpetual Trophy for Sportsmanship​​ - Presented by David H. Bedell in memory of a good horse.  To be awarded annually to the amateur exhibitor who, in the opinion of his fellow members of the Michigan Horse Show Association, displays the highest degree of sportsmanship in the truest sense of the word.  Award may not be won more than once by the same exhibitor.
